Positive Behaviour Support is an intervention to support children and young people with neurodiversity that focuses on addressing negative behaviour, their needs, their environment and overall quality of life.
The aim of this Professionals training is to explore and identify factors behind negative behaviour and to strengthen current Steps strategies in managing behaviour positively. Practical aspects will include planning effective responses and reactive strategies; the exploration and application of collaborative working; function assessment and the creation of holistic behaviour support plans.
PBS is an evidence-based approach with a primary goal of increasing a person's quality of life and a secondary goal of decreasing the frequency and severity of their challenging behaviours. PBS is about working with families and carers to develop a shared understanding about why the person has a need to engage in challenging behaviour.
