A crisis/sad event is not anything that a school wants to happen in their community. However, unfortunately things do happen. Being well prepared in these circumstances can support school staff in being able to manage an emotional situation with greater sense of control.
This training is designed to equip schools in how to manage a significant event which may affect the school community be it a bereavement (with a direct e.g. staff member/pupil or indirect e.g a parent impact), a major crisis or other event which could impact on the day to day running of the school.
The training is split into two sections. The morning is developed for SLT and school leaders. It will cover the psychological impact of bereavement and trauma on adults and young people. We will then focus on action planning and the steps that should be taken to manage a significant event.
